Antigua and Barbuda set to celebrate CARICOM Energy Awareness Week 2015 with a full slate of activities.

The countdown is on to the start of Caricom Energy Awareness Week 2015 and Antigua and Barbuda has slated a week of activities in commemoration of the event which is being celebrated under the theme "Empowering our sustainable development".

The regional celebration is being held from the 8th to the 14th of November 2015, however the Ministry of Energy in Antigua and Barbuda will kick start their week with the Kilo-walk on Saturday November 7th at 5 am from Yasco Grounds to Jabberwock Beach with an informative stop at the Solar Farm on Airport Road.

From November 9th thru the 11th members of the Energy Department will engage the various media establishments on island on issues relating to energy use, conservation, and adoption of energy best practices and technology by the youth. Hence the reason for the activity slated for the 12th of November, the solar PV and Solar Water Heater Installation training workshop. This workshop will be held at the Gate headquarters and will be facilitated by Mr. Daryl Jackson and Mr. Brian Nunes. It is geared towards tertiary level students.

A tour of the 3 MW Solar PV Park located on the airport premises on Friday 13th November by secondary school students from across the island will culminate the week's activities.

The public is encouraged to participate and make CARICOM Energy Awareness Week 2015 a success.
