Dashboard Update for May 8, 2021

The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment apologizes for the delayed publication of the dashboard. This is due to an ongoing audit of the Covid-19 data being carried out by the Ministry’s Epidemiology Unit.

The Ministry has however resumed the daily publication of the dashboard and expresses appreciation to members of the public for their patience during the delay.

In this regard, the most recent reports received by the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment from the Mount St. Johns Medical Centre (MSJMC) and the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), covering the period April 28th through to May 4th 2021 at 6pm have revealed eight (8) new laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases in Antigua and Barbuda.

The new cases are as follows: one (1) new case on April 28th, three (3) on April 29th, two (2) on April 30th and two (2) on May 3rd 2021.

There were one hundred and fifty-four (154) recovered cases recorded during the same period as follows: One hundred and thirty-three (133) on April 28th, three (3) on April 29th, eleven (11) on May 1st and seven (7) on May 4th 2021.

This brings the total number of recoveries to one thousand one hundred and sixty-eight (1168).

During the audit, the Epidemiology Unit also discovered that seven (7) of the Covid-19 cases were duplicated. As a result, the confirmed cases column is being reduced by seven (7). The other relevant columns have also been adjusted.

Consequently, the total number of persons with laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases in Antigua and Barbuda is one thousand two hundred and thirty-one (1231), which is inclusive of thirty-one (31) active cases. Of these active cases five (5) are hospitalized with all being considered mild.

The audit investigation of the Covid-19 related deaths is still ongoing and is being carried out in order to ensure that the deaths are recorded and classified according to the World Health Organizarion (WHO) standards of Covid-19 related deaths. This could result in an adjustment to this category which will be promptly published upon completion of the investigation which is expected to be no later than Friday 14th May 2021.

Meanwhile, the total number of persons vaccinated as of May 4th, 2021 is thirty thousand seven hundred and four (30,704).

The dashboard has been updated to reflect these changes.

The most recent report received by the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment from the Mount St. Johns Medical Centre (MSJMC) has revealed six (6) new laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases in Antigua and Barbuda as of Friday, 7th May, 2021 at 6pm.

These new cases, five (5) of which are from May 6th and one (1) from May 7th, 2021 were the results from two hundred and fifty-one (251) samples processed by MSJMC.

Two (2) recovered cases were recorded on May 6th increasing the total to one thousand one hundred and seventy (1170).

Consequently, the total number of persons with laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases in Antigua and Barbuda is one thousand two hundred and thirty-seven (1237), which is inclusive of thirty-five (35) active cases. Of these active cases four (4) are hospitalized with all being considered mild.

Meanwhile, the total number of persons vaccinated as of May 7th 2021 is thirty one thousand and eighty-five (31,085).

The dashboards have been updated to reflect these changes.
