21st September, 2020

(St. John’s Antigua; September 21, 2020), Tourism Minister the Hon. Charles Fernandez has applauded the Management and Staff of Beach Limerz Antigua for being innovative and indigenous with the implementation of the national guidelines for restaurant operations during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The restaurant owned and managed by Mr. Barry “Scorpion” Edwards previously had a rustic, island beach vibe theme running concurrent with its décor and seating ambiance. Now, in keeping with the standards set by the Ministry of Health to limit the spread of the corona virus Mr. Edwards has made quite a few adjustments.

From the new wattle and daub entrance gate, to glass and acrylic partitions and a patio extension for a more scenic dining experience, social distancing and crowd control are now achievable. Of course, hand washing, and sanitizing stations are an added feature and strict adherence to temperature checks at the entrance is a must do!

Tourism Executives

“All additions have blended uniquely well with the ambiance of the establishment and this is quite impressive!”, remarked Minister Fernandez.

The Hon. Minister and other tourism executives were treated to a tour of the restaurant and entertainment center located at Fort James last Friday and all came away with positive impressions.

“It is very important that tourism service providers understand that although these new prerequisite regulations have come about as a result of this unfortunate pandemic, being compliant, innovative and maintaining an indigenous appeal will go a long way towards attracting and boosting business not just during Covid but beyond,” stated Minister Fernandez.

According to the proprietor of Beach Limerz, adjustments have also been made to direct some of the human traffic to the outside of the establishment to allow for an even better socially distanced experience and this was done with the return of both the local and cruise ships visitors in mind.

“We are looking to continue these precautionary measures even beyond the Covid-19 pandemic, because our local and visitor clientele experience is extremely important to us with safety being paramount at all times!”, remarked Mr. Edwards.

The Beach Limerz Restaurant was recently recognized by Trip Advisor as being among the top 10% of best dining experiences on their platform.

The restaurant is now opened for eat-in dining on the weekends and patrons are asked to call in advance if possible, to make reservations.
