Andre Hill called to the Bar in Antigua and Barbuda

Son of two of the country's more respected lawyers, was called to the Bar of Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court- Antigua Circuit on Friday.

Justice Cheryl Mathurin accepted the application presented to her by Radford Hill, to officially call Andre Wentworth Hill to the Bar of Antigua and Barbuda. Hill, who is the son of Radford and Cecile Hill was also called to the Bar of England and Wales in London in 2015.

On Friday, the room at the High Court was filled with lawyers, family members' and other well-wishers to welcome the young man to the prestigious society.

Lawyer and father Radford Hill stood proudly and congratulated his son on the significant accomplishment. He also expressed his gratitude to everyone who helped to mould the young lawyer into the "fine, humble young man that he has become".

Attorney General the Hon. Steadroy "Cutie" Benjamin stated that the young attorney had major shoes to fill, since his father Radford Hill is a man who has performed over the years at a high standard and is also well known for his excellent work not only in Antigua and Barbuda but abroad.

"Humility is the order of the day, professionalism is paramount in this field and you must always honor your clients and treat them with the utmost respect," Benjamin continued. President of the Bar Association, Deborah Burnette, also offered words of congratulations to the young man and encouraged Hill to chart his own course.

She also urged him to become an active member of the Bar Association.

Andre Hill thanked his parents for always allowing not only him, but his sister and brother to share their individual opinions at an early age and for always supporting them in all of their endeavours.

Hill said that at an early age he never envisaged being a lawyer but is thankful and accepts the honor of being called to the Bar in Antigua and Barbuda and will use this mantra as a way of giving back to society as well.

"I have a lot to learn and will use every legal mind to assist, and I will also become an active member of the Bar Association, where I will assist in changing the way in which people view lawyers within Antigua and Barbuda," Hill stated.
