The first phase of the envisioned project consisted of the installation of a 3 MW photovoltaic ground mounted sun2live installation on the southwest shoulder of the V.C. Bird International Airport. This installation is meant to support and offset energy supplied to the newly inaugurated main airport terminal.
In addition to the installation at V.C. Bird International Airport, several other Government sites and buildings are under assessment to fit the remaining 7 MW as specified in the agreement. Currently, 1 MW is projected for the Barbuda's island to be placed within the premises of the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) and further 2 MW are planned for rooftop installations on Antigua's government-owned buildings such as ministries, schools and hospitals and a 4MW ground mounted photovoltaic installation is planned to be installed in the South Eastern Region of the island. Two buildings, the Clare Hall Secondary School and the Antigua Grammar School, have been the first to receive rooftop installations. The project will be completed within the upcoming months.
