St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda | October 21, 2026...Antigua and Barbuda has been announced as the host country for the 36th Annual Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association (CWWA) Conference and Exhibition in 2027, marking an important opportunity for the country to contribute to regional dialogue on water security, sustainable water management and wastewater solutions.

The announcement was made during the 35th Annual CWWA Conference and Exhibition in Grenada, where the Hon. Melford Nicholas, Minister responsible for Utilities in Antigua and Barbuda, lead a delegation from the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA). APUA will serve as the local host organization for the 2027 conference.

The 2027 conference is expected to welcome approximately 300 delegates, including regional government ministers, policymakers, utility executives, water and wastewater professionals, technical experts and representatives of regional and international companies providing products, services and technologies.

The gathering will provide a platform for high-level policy discussions, technical presentations, industry exhibitions and networking, allowing participating countries to share experiences, examine emerging technologies and strengthen partnerships to address common water and wastewater challenges.

For Antigua and Barbuda, hosting the conference will provide an opportunity to showcase the country’s tourism, culture and hospitality while highlighting ongoing efforts to strengthen water infrastructure, improve service delivery and build greater resilience in the face of climate change and increasing demands on water resources.

The hosting announcement is particularly significant as Caribbean countries continue to pursue practical and sustainable approaches to water security. Regional collaboration, knowledge exchange and investment in innovative technologies remain essential to ensuring reliable and resilient water services for communities across the region.

The Ministry of Information Communication Technologies (ICTs), Utilities and Energy recognizes the importance of regional cooperation in advancing sustainable utilities and strengthening the systems that support national development.

Antigua and Barbuda looks forward to welcoming delegates in 2027 and contributing to continued progress across the Caribbean water and wastewater sector.
