OPEC to assist with Infrastructural Development of the country

OFID (OPEC Fund for International Development) has agreed to assist Antigua and Barbuda with the country’s Road repairs, construction and infrastructure through the provision of a loan.

Minister of Finance and the Economy, the Hon. Harold Lovell has been in negotiations with the international organization on behalf of the Government and people of Antigua and Barbuda. The successes of these negotiations resulted in OFID agreeing to aid in the infrastructural development of the country.

According to the Finance Minister, the Government is in loan negotiations with the Fund who will assist the twin island state with road work and the construction of new buildings both of which will provide employment for Antiguans and Barbudans.

Pleased with the repaired relationship between Antigua & Barbuda and OPEC, Minister Lovell said the country’s (former) “bad debt” reputation has recently been cleared to the satisfaction of OPEC. The country now qualifies for and has been able to receive the much needed assistance from the International body.
